Spring is almost here even though it already feels like it is! Warmer weather means more propane usage. Propane is highly versatile powering grill-outs and parties, road trips, camping trips and even hot air balloon festivals.
With all these spring and summer activities coming up, it’s important to make sure you’re using propane safely. Follow the spring cylinder preparation tips below to help keep your family safe this spring.
First, you should always test for leaks. Apply a soapy water solution to the tank and connector, while slowly opening the cylinder valve. If bubbles appear, you have a leak and should replace the tank or connector.
Never, store or use a propane tank on its side – a propane tank should always stand upright, so that it cannot roll. Don’t leave it in a hot, sunny area; store in a cool place. Furthermore, never store a cylinder indoors or enclosed area.
Have fun this spring!

It’s good to know that you should test for leaks and not store the propane tank on its side. I’m getting an outdoor fireplace and firepit so I need to have a lot of propane on hand. I might have to order from delivery services so I never have to worry about running out of propane.
I appreciated that you shared the tip about checking for leaks. My husband wants to get our grill ready for summer, and we want to check our propane tanks. It would be awesome if we could find a reputable company who could help us with our propane.
I loved that you pointed out the importance of keeping a propane tank in a stand upright position and never on its side. This is something that I will consider because I am planning to find a propane company next week. I want to choose a safe and efficient heating gas for my new house in the south, so I will surely do your tips.
